John Bosco was on Sunday night, August 18, 2024, attacked and stabbed together with his wife Juliet Nansubuga, the town clerk of Nabingoola Town Council in Kasambya Constituency, Mubende District, and their two children, who were not seriously injured.
After the assailants left, Nansubuga who was cut but in a position to drive was able to help her husband and rushed him to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital emergency word for medical attention.
Several scans were done on Mr Kikere and it was discovered that he was seriously injured and needed further treatment. He was referred to Mulago National Hospital and later transferred to Case Clinic in Kampala.
According to Kasanda district chairperson Kasirye Fred Zzimula, the condition of Mr. Kikere is not worrying at the moment as he is responding to medication and is now in a position to speak unlike when he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Zzimula revealed to Mubende Post that in his talk with bedridden Kikere, he told him that the men who attacked his family were believed to have been five armed with pangas and sticks.
“I talked with Mr. Kikere, he told me that the goons who attacked his family were like five in number who broke into the house from the front glass door.
“After they entered, his wife heard cracks but did not take it seriously since her children were already sleeping. After a while, the assailants reached the adults’ bedroom and started knocking with interest to enter. In fear, the man woke up to confirm his children were safe. However, upon opening the bedroom door, he was stabbed to near death.
“Kikere’s wife Nansubuga told me that when they thought that they had killed her husband they decided to vacate which confirms that they had come for someone. However, after a few minutes, the robbers went back to the house and walked away with an undisclosed amount of money and all their phones,” Mr Zzimula told Mubende Post.
Chairperson Zzimula also warned those who have started spreading false news that Mr. Kikere has died saying they should stop it, but continue to pray for his recovery.
Mubende Post understands that Kikere’s wife is in good condition and patiently taking care of her husband in hospital.
By the time we filed this report, the police in Mubende had not released any information about the attack or any arrests.
