MUBENDE: Rev Father Emmanuel Mwerekande has urged Journalists to be archers in popularising Our Lady of Fatima Mubende Parish in its efforts to celebrate 100 years of service.
At a press conference held at the office of the Rev Father Emmanuel Mwerekande, in his speech, he said that journalists are important in spreading the gospel to reach as many people as possible in a very short time.
He urged them to support the church in all its efforts regardless of their religious background but to use the spirit of the country.
The Parish has a variety of initiatives through which it wants to give back to the community but with people at the wheel.
Some of the highlights of the celebration include; tree planting, various programs to bring God’s people out of poverty, the establishment of an Education Monitoring Committee, and more.
According to the Rev Father Emmanuel Mwerekande, the church also has plans to renovate the grounds of St Mary’s Primary School and to enclose it with a fence.
“We want to dig the field and plant in new grass, cover it with a net. During the construction of Mubende- Kakumiro road, the field was cut and narrowed, now when the children are playing the ball falls in the road which can cause us problems we want to enclose it with a fence,” Mwerikande exclusively told Mubende Post.
Father Mwerikande also tipped that Christians will pilgrimage to Fatima in Portugal in February 2025 for five days, and then leave for Rome. He announced that whoever felt like making the pilgrimage to contact his office immediately.
