MASAZA CUP: Buweekula Ssaza Football Club have gone top after defeating Ssingo Ssaza FC Football Club 2-0 in the last group game of Muganzirwazza in Masaza Cup 2024.
Kalema Jimmy, who came in as a substitute for Asiimwe Habati, popularly known as Camavinga, gave the Mubende-based Ssaza a deserved lead when he headed in Shafic Nyanzi’s scorcher cross and extended the lead when he beat goalkeeper Senyonjo Julius to record his first brace.
Ssingo had their try-on with Joseph Ssewali and Culvin Peter Emayo on the right and left wing respectively. Still, their hopes to get Ssingo back into the game was ruined after Aniku Fahad and Shafix Lugolobi humbled the dangerous men.
The win at Ssaza Grounds in Mityana has sent the ‘unbeaten’ Nakayama boys to the top of the Muganzirwazza group on goal difference. The rivals are level on 20 points with only 2 goals margin separating them.
Elsewhere, despite the slow start, Buddu finally claimed the top spot with 18 points as Kyadondo booked second place with 16 points in the Bulange group.
In the Masengere group, Busujju went on top with 22 points, 3 points ahead of second-placed Kabula and Mawokota had late celebrations when they qualified for the quarter-finals as overall ‘Best Loser 1’ with 16 points.
Kyaggwe are ‘Best Loser 2’ with 15 points after a one all draw with Gomba at Bishop’s SS playground in Mukono.
