MUBENDE: Dedan Foundation, a charity-based NGO in Buwekula South has launched the donation of scholastic materials to 1165 Primary Seven candidates across all schools in Buwekula South, Mubende district to enable them to excel in the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The donated items included 1 mathematical set for each P.7 candidate, pens and pencils, among others all of which are meant to boost their confidence, concentration and their academic performance.
The scholastic materials were on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, launched by Dedan Foundation publicity, Mr Joshua Rutembesa.
Rutembesa says the idea of donating to needy pupils scholastic materials is purposely to ensure that these children, most especially girls are not diverted from the main path of achieving education.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke to Mubende Post on behalf of the P.7 candidates expressed gratitude to the Dedan Foundation, stating that the mathematical sets will greatly benefit them ahead of the busy PLE period and that the contingent of the donation comes in handy to relieve their parents of the burden for such.
“..I am so excited to see our visitors from the Dedan Foundation, and on behalf of P.7, I am thankful that we have received the sets. I humbly request that Dedan continues with this heart of giving to the needy pupils,” she stated.
Speaking on behalf of the staff at Star Primary School, Kalonga, Mrs Robinah Ruhala said the donation triggered excitement from his candidates, adding that they (the pupils) will surely speak about this to their parents, in the neighbourhood to help spread the message of the foundation even further.
“Our P.7 candidates are all excited as you can see them, this goes beyond what you see on their faces. I think they are going to talk this to their parents, in the neighbourhood, that they have received sets from Dedan Foundation,” she stated.
“We are so thankful, and we hope you continue with this generosity,” Mrs Ruhala.
Besides the donation of scholastic materials, Mr Matia Musisi the head of the parents committee, also offered counselling to the candidates and urged them to stay focused and not compare themselves with others, as everyone is unique in their own way.
“What disturbs the boy and girl-child today is because they do not believe in themselves. You should know that you are unique, do not compare yourselves to others, do not admire nice things from your friends, or else you will be tempted to seek favour from the opposite sex,” Matia advised.
Mr Joshua further advised the young girls to ensure they do not drop out of school and to openly speak out if they face any challenge or are being disturbed. “Come out, speak out, you are the voice of your life,” he emphasized.
