KASANDA: The Kasanda District chairperson Kasirye Fred Zzimula is planning to declare a three-day strike on corrupt officials in the district saying he has tried to fight it in the Kasanda but it has still failed. He says they have fought corruption in the district at least with a win of 65% only 35% behaving untouchables.
He has also rallied leaders, religious leaders, councilors and other stakeholders to take part in a Three day corruption fight strike in Kasanda. Currently in talks with local government leaders including The Minister for local government Hon Raphael Magyezi to see how they can do this better.
In this outreach they will name those who are corrupt, the amount of money they swindled and ask them to return it or otherwise face criticisms from the public.
He says that because they used to do it quietly, those who have been committing corruption have failed to stop it, and some have cases at police while others appear in IGG reports but they have not even returned the money or forget the addiction.
The district chairperson says some of them appear in the reports of the district public Accounts committee and that he has a list of 74 people involved in corruption scandles and in this strike they will ask some of them to be replaced by the government and take them to other areas.
“Am now fixing the dates, and I will need your help so that we can fight this trend, I want us to bring radios, Tvs newspapers and all media outlets, the first day at least we should name about 13 people” Kasirye says.
In this campaign they will be mentioning names of the person, who swindled the money, his birthplace, his parents, religion, job he does in the district, how long he worked for it, where his children studied from youngest to oldest, calling it “Name and shame”
Zzimula says there are some of the PDM and Emyooga corrupt who appear in IGG reports but they are not Arrested.
Currently seeking funding from the community to facilitate media because he can’t use district money since it’s not included in the budget.
“You should wait for what next, the dates will be announced, have already written to the Minister of Local Government Hon Raphael Magyezi although the PS is in Germany but letters are already in the office” zzimula said.
