MP Lubega Bashir Slams Hon Hope Grania Nakazibwe of Discrimination at 39th Liberation Day Ceremony

Mubende Municipality MP Honorable Lubega Bashir Ssempa has slammed Mubende District Woman MP Nakazibwe Hope Grania for not allowing him to say anything to the President at the national ceremony in his Area.

At The NRA/NRM 39th Liberation Day celebrations on 26th January 2025 which were held at National Teachers College in Mubende district the main celebrant was President Yoweri Museveni the president of Uganda, the Mubende District Woman representative was one of the hosts (MC) of the ceremony.

Due to the limited time and number of speakers allowed to speak at the function, Honorable Grania used the chance of being the host and talked on behalf of Mubende. She thanked the President for allowing the National ceremony to be held in Mubende because of the efforts herself together with Kabanda David, MP representing Kasambya Constituency.

“Dear President I want to thank you for agreeing with Me and Honorable Kabanda David when we came to your office asking you to have the ceremony come to Mubende areas you did not refuse. The liberation day celebrations in Mubende district is very important because it was where the first bullet was fired in liberating this country” Nakazibwe said.

“Dear President, I want to tell you that the people of Mubende are happy and I thank you again for developing the Mubende district through the construction of roads, hospitals, and markets,” she added.

After the President’s speech Honorable Milly Babalanda from the office of the president welcomed the Central executive members headed by the president, vice president, and the Prime minister with the ministers and then called the local artists of which one asked for a photo with the president which he granted and proceeded to photo moments.

Honorable Grania also took to the pulpit and welcomed the MPs from the Parliament of Uganda whereas Area Mps including Honorable Museveni Williams Ndoori, Hon Lubega Bashir Ssempa, and Honorable Mbabazi Pascal were not allowed to give a speech at any point of the function and some of them were absent.

Honorable Ssempa then expressed his dissatisfaction with the actions of his fellow MP representing the same Area in Parliament Honorable Nakazibwe Hope Grania for introducing MPs but he did not use that chance to give him a minute to say something.

“Everyone has seen what happened because the people of Mubende are not villagers, discrimination and desire to oppress others, people have seen it,” Ssempa said in a soulful voice.

“I want to tell the people of Mubende that we have many MPs in different constituencies now how can an MP from other constituencies start thinking that he can take away my Area MP position At a function, do you think that can decide the election” He added.

He said there were also fellow MPs who were upset with him and asked him to do something different but he refused.

“Some MPs said you can’t do that in my constituency and I kept quiet and I told them no everyone has their understanding and a head,” Lubega said.

However, he said this further exposed the emptiness of his fellow MP and showed the misconduct and fighting among the MPs representing Mubende district.

“You might think you are spoiling someone yet instead you are showing your nakedness, because how can you introduce MPs to the president when he is in the process of taking pictures, and when he is in the photo moments he is busy he can not do recognitions, now can you tell me that the ceremony was wow!” Ssempa questioned.

“I don’t do that and if you remember the ceremony of the Luwekula seating, the protocol decided that only the Area MP should take the microphone to speak, but I found that although I knew someone was fighting me I asked at least to let her come and use two minutes to greet her people,” he added.

Lubega said that it could be the reason for fighting in Mubende and the bitterness that caused the MPs from Mubende not to get the chance to take a picture with the president during his visit to their area.

It should be recalled that it has taken a long time since the five MPs representing Mubende district have been out of action due to unknown disputes.

However, the dispute is mainly between MP Kabanda David representing Kasambya Constituency who is a close friend of MP representing Mubende district exchanging bitterness with MP Lubega Bashir Ssempa representing Mubende municipality
