MUBENDE: The former Kaweeri ward councilor, East Division Mubende municipality, A one Ronald Mugwaabya has through his written letter reminded the aspiring members of Parliament over the Lack of Adequate Representation and Community Empowerment of the members present in the 11th Parliament.
The councilor says as we are moving towards the elections for the next five year term, it’s important to remind those with the dream of taking positions of the significant responsibilities that come with the honorable position they are seeking. He adds that the role of a Member of Parliament (MP) is one of the great importance, not only to the constituency but to Mubende District and the nation as a whole.
According to the letter seen by Mubende post dated addressed to the aspiring members of the 12th Parliament of Uganda especially for mubende district, Hon Mugwabya says As the campaigns continue, It should be emphasized that it’s important to make realistic, and achievable promises.
“Some candidates may be tempted to promise grand projects, such as building Health Centre Fours in every sub-county, tarmacking roads throughout the district, or constructing government schools in every village. While these are admirable goals, it is important to understand the limitations of available resources and the practical scope of what can be accomplished by an MP.” Mugwaabya said.
He added that Making impossible promises not only damages the credibility of the leader but also leads to disappointment among the constituents when those promises cannot be fulfilled.
“It is far more effective to present achievable, well-thought-out plans that reflect the real needs of your constituency and the resources available”. He added.
Mugwaabya Also urged the candidates to run their campaigns with respect, both for the people and for the fellow candidates, that Negative campaigning, personal attacks, or divisive rhetoric only detract from the real issues that need to be addressed.
“Political competition should remain positive, focused on the issues, and rooted in mutual respect for the democratic process.” He said

“As you continue your journey toward representing Mubende District, remember that leadership is not just about power or titles. It is about service, integrity, and the commitment to improving the lives of the people you seek to serve. Your success will be determined by how well you remain true to these principles. Ronald advised.
According to Mugwaabya some of the primary duties, if entrusted with this responsibility for the members of Parliament, includes: Representation: You are the voice of your people. It is your duty to listen carefully to the concerns, aspirations, and needs of your constituents, ensuring they are well-represented in Parliament.
Law-Making and Oversight: As a legislator, you will be directly involved in the creation, amendment, and oversight of laws that affect your constituents’ daily lives. It is crucial that you participate fully in these processes to safeguard public interest and ensure effective governance.
Advocacy for Development: Your role extends to promoting development within your constituency, including in critical areas such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and employment. Your focus should be on realistic, sustainable solutions that will improve the lives of your people.
Ethical Leadership: Upholding the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and transparency is essential. You must act with fairness and be a role model in your conduct, ensuring that your leadership instills confidence and trust among the people you represent.
Fostering Unity and Peace: You must work to unite the people. Political campaigns should not divide us, but instead, your leadership should inspire peace, cooperation, and collective efforts towards national and local prosperity.
Active Constituent Engagement: Regular interaction with your constituents is essential to effective leadership. Hold town halls, listen to their concerns, and keep them informed of the work you are doing to improve their lives.
