One Killed, Another injureed in Kibalinga

Police are hunting a shamba boy who killed one person and injured another in Mubende.
The incident happened at Kazo East Village, Kibalinga Sub-County, Mubende District when Robert Kiiza killed Expedito Katugunda under unclear circumstances.
According to residents, the suspect had come to the village to work on a farm owned by “Musawo Tamale” and was known for living a humble life.
“He came as a shamba boy, and his main job was charcoal burning. He used to come to my home to charge his phone, but we are shocked that he killed his friend,” said Hope Kingeneye, a resident of Kazo East.
Kingeneye described the condition of the survivors, stating that they might not make it.
“He cut them on the head, and one of their eyes was completely damaged. They rushed them to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition because of severe head wounds,” she added.
Other eyewitnesses told this website that the incident happened at around 6 p.m. when Kiiza allegedly attacked Katugunda cutting him on the head.

“We heard children screaming, and when we arrived, we found Katugunda dead with deep wounds on his head. His brain was visible,” a witness recounted.
Residents said they could not believe what had happened.
“He had lived in this village for years without committing any offense. We cannot understand what drove him to kill an innocent man and injure Tugumisiriza,” said Chris Talemwa, a resident of Kazo.
Charles Bantaliza, a resident of Kyanika Village, expressed fear and urged the police to hunt for Kiiza before he attacked again.
“We are in danger because this suspect might return and kill more people. We request the police to find him because he fled with a panga,” Bantaliza added.
Ismael Twesigye, the LCI chairperson for Kazo East, condemned the brutal act and urged locals to avoid violence.
“It is terrible that a shamba boy killed one person and injured another with a panga for no clear reason. He even threatened locals, warning them not to report him,” Twesigye said.
Police from Mubende Central Police Station arrived at the scene and took the body to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
As of publication, the police had not yet released an official statement about the incident.
