“Don’t Vote Independent Candidates,” Segawa Tells NUP supporters

As pressure mounts on who wins the ground to fit for the National Unity Platform Flag for Mubende Municipality Member of parliament seat in the coming 2026 general elections, Ismael Segawa, also known as Sureman Segawa, has tasked the Mubende people with devaluing whoever tries to separate from the party norms and stand as an independent candidate after failing to get the NUP flag.
It follows Sureman’s tour of Mubende Municipality, where he is trying to win people’s hearts and asking for support.
When asked by a concerned citizen, if he is not given the National Unity Platform Flag, will he ignore people’s power and stand as an independent to behave like those who contested as independents in the Kawempe by-election, like Luwemba Luswa Muhammad and Nsereko Moses Songa, after losing the flag race?
“I was asking that if you go to the screening, as it was in Kawempe and they say haaa the Flag is given to another one, will you come as an independent or will you continue to obey our party’s principles?” A concerned citizen asked.
In response, Segawa said he would not run if all goes wrong for him and he fails to bag the party flag.
“I want to tell you that we in NUP do not fight, we believe in the plan of our president, Robert Kyagulanyi, that he puts in place. Therefore, I won’t stand as an independent candidate,” He explained.
“And I urge you, never to vote for an independent candidate who would have failed to get a NUP Card. If he/she comes on an independent card, kick him out, because that means he/she wanted a position, not service,” He added.
