Bukoto South Member of Parliament, Dr. Twaha Kagabo, who ditched the National Unity Platform (NUP) and joined the MK Movement.

MK Movement is a pressure group spearheaded by First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and later to the National Resistance Movement. On Sunday, 13th April 2026, he was freed from danger after attacking the NUP, calling it a disease during a National Resistance Movement public rally at Kasaana playground in Mubende Municipality.

Kagabo was among the team of ministers, MPs and local leaders hailing from the central region Hosted by Bashir Lubega Ssempa, the member of Parliament for Mubende Municipality, gathered in Mubende District in a spirited show of unity, to spread the party’s message and rally support for President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 2026 elections.

The Members of Parliament were asked to greet people with a word. Dr. Twaha Kagabo was chased off the stage by the angry crowd after he branded NUP a disease that developed in 2021.

“People of Mubende, my friends, you are lucky like palms in the sand. I want to tell you that there is a disease that came and started eating over our country, and that disease is called NUP…… mummering,” Kagabo said, and the crowd overpowered him.

“Be aware of that disease so that it doesn’t take away your luck…,” Kagabo added.

In a shocking turn of events, Kagabo was overpowered by the crowds, hence the MC of the ceremony called on the DJ to play a song so that people could calm down. He knew he was wrong and left the stage back to his seat.

This surprised the attendees and onlookers who thought that only NRM members were present at the venue. Since they were all putting on yellow t-shirts labeled with the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Kagabo first came to the limelight in August 2022 when he tried to return Shs 40 million that he reportedly received from the residence of the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, under unclear circumstances.

He was then arrested by the parliamentary police, which handed him over to the Inspectorate of Government (IG).

Upon arrest, Kagabo was briefly held in custody, questioned, and the Inspectorate obtained a statement from him as well as Shs 40 million, which formed part of the evidence.

The MP was later released on bond pending further investigations.

The IG later cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Dr. Kagabo, the first-time legislator, defeated the ruling National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Abdul Kiyimba and two others during the 2021 parliamentary elections.

He pulled 8,883 votes against Kiyimba’s 6,685 votes, while independents Julius Ssentamu and Bena Nakimera Makuza garnered 5,621 and 325 votes, respectively.
