Sekaggya Moses Among Mubende journalists Joining NUP, Seeks to Represent Lwabagabo Ward

MUBENDE, UGANDA – In a significant development, popular journalist Sekaggya Seka Moses has joined the National Unity Platform (NUP), a leading opposition party in Uganda, with aspirations to represent the people of Lwabagabo ward as their councilor in Mubende municipality. This move comes as the party launches its youth elections, a process kicked off today by the Electoral Commission through the issuance of nomination forms.
The party activity, led by Sylvia Namutyaba, NUP Youth Secretary General, provided a platform for Moses to officially join the party. Moses, a radio presenter and news anchor at 102.3 Heart FM, where he has been working since 2021, cited the need to transition from merely discussing issues affecting the community on air to actively representing them in the council. “We have been talking about issues that affect us in our areas on the waves of the radio, but leaders have failed to respond. Now it’s time I go and represent them in the council myself,” he said.
The NUP district chairperson, Pafuladiito Kyeyune, welcomed Moses to the party, appreciating his commitment to raising the voices of the oppressed through his work. “With all the time I have worked with Sekaggya, he has tried to raise the voice of those oppressed through news bulletins and in his program as a topic, and indeed many have been helped,” Kyeyune said.
Moses, who also runs the online news website Binocularug, was introduced to the party by NUP district secretary Damasen Kakooza at the NUP headquarters in Kirungi, Mubende. The party members welcomed him warmly, expressing joy that he had chosen NUP to further his political aspirations.
With his interest form from NUP’s Wamala regional office in hand, Moses has promised to be a humble servant to the people of Lwabagabo ward, which comprises villages such as Namagogo, where he resides, Kyeguluuso, Njeru, and Kangulumira. His decision to join active politics is seen as a boost to NUP’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Mubende municipality, particularly as the party embarks on its youth elections.
