Political Analysts Blasts Major Joseph Kakooza After His Bitter Fight with Youth in Butoloogo

MUBENDE: Political analysts have condemned the acts of violence that have started to surface in the politics of Mubende District.

They say even aging leaders should leave politics to the energetic budding Youths.

This comes to light after former L5 Mubende District also aspiring Buweekula County Member of Parliament in the forthcoming 2026 elections, Major Joseph Kakooza appeared in a video having a bitter fight with youths in Butoloogo.

“The fight took place at Kakyuka Lc1 village, Butoloogo sub-county where we had gone for Bulungi Bwansi. Major Kakooza met Emmanuel Serucaca who is running for LC3 and Political Assistant of Judith MUJAWIMANA who is contesting for the same seat as Major Kakooza. Upon seeing each other eye to eye, Kakooza agitated and wanted to fight,” Eyewitnesses, Augustine Muganga told Mubende Post.

“Serucaca asked him what he did for Mubende in his 15 years in power. This prompted Kakoozi to go bitter and later got a huge slap from Serucucu and the bitter war went on as Kokooza was seeking revenge,” Eye Witnesses further revealed.

“I’m going to find Kakooza very badly and sit him down for a talk. I’ve been looking for him for a long time but he’s still missing me. Will talk to him, he should leave politics and leave it to budding politicians,” a Political Analyst who preferred to be anonymous told Mubende Post.

A retired Major, Joseph Kakooza was Chairman of Mubende District for two terms of 10 years. Since 2001, when Kiboga was split from Mubende, Kakooza won the Mubende District L5 seat succeeding the late General Kasirye Gwanga.

In 2006 RTD major Joseph Kakooza was re-elected as the district chairman.

However, after losing to Hon Kibuuka Francis Amooti in the 2011 election, in 2016 he was defeated when he contested as Buwekula County. In 2021 when Buwekula was split into two and created Buwekula South, Kakooza was defeated by NRM candidate Mbabazi Pascal.

As the 2026 general election is taking centre stage, Kakooza first announced his return to battle incumbent L5 Chairperson Mubende District Micheal Ntambi and others for a juicy seat as he repeatedly mentioned at ceremonies.

However, in the swift, Kakooza announced that he would run to represent the people of Buwekula County in parliament.

Kakoza as an aspirant Buweekula County Constituency MP, will face young blood playing challenging politics who are interested in the same seat. Among those who have already announced their candidature are; NRM incumbent Hon Mbabazi Pascal, Hon Mwesigwa David, Hon Sendegeya Geresian, Hon Mujjawimaana Judith, Hon Kashaijja Vincent, Hon Ndagizemaana Steven of NUP, Hon Mukiza Reuben, Hon Serunkuuma Charles, Hon Kulabilawo Edward.
