Former Member of Parliament for Buwekula, Tonny Ssemuli Tibamalirwa is eyeing re-election in the forthcoming General Elections as Mubende Municipality representative for the 2026-2031 term.

Ssemuli has listed his strength while in office for 10 years. Ssemuli says he represented Buweekula Constituency for the 2011- 2016 term when it was still composed of Mubende Municipality, Buweekula South, and Buweekula Constituencies.

He stated that the fundamental challenges by that time were; Land disputes, Youth unemployment, Environmental degradation, poor Education services, lack of drugs in our Health centers, and low electrification circulation in the area among others.

Tonny says he made interventions, in a way that he was able to engage all the stakeholders in the community who were well-guided on how best to manage the challenges. He developed a work plan that guided implementation, established an office along Lubanga Rd – Mubende town, and eventually formed an association called “BUWEEKULA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION”- “BUCODEO” used for lobbying purposes.

“My contributions to the Buweekula Constituency were based on two categories; Fundamental lobbies I made from the Government to the area and personal initiatives at my own cost,” Tonny said.

Ssemuli in Parliament

During his time in parliament, schools benefited from the computer distribution scheme. Among them are; Madudu SSS, Mubende Light SSS, Kasenyi SSS, Army SSS, and National Teachers College (NTC) Mubende.

The Kitenga powerline is enjoyed now, it was his influence felt and influenced in the Kyankwanzi retreat before the President and the Ministry of Energy, after noticing that it had not been part of the prioritized projects.

Ssemuli played a fundamental role in the elevation of Mubende Town Council into a Municipal status.

He also played a key role in the electrification of Kirungi-Kangulumira together with three Transformers and the Kattabalanga – NTC line.

He Donated 200 driving permits to Boda boda riders for 300,000= each. Constructed resting shades for Boda Boda riders.

Tonny distributed 8000 Mama kits to pregnant women for 45000= each.

Distributed 30 million Coffee seedlings, 150,000 Mango seedlings, and 10 million Kalitunsi seedlings to farmers, all from his nursery bed, and transported to their respective villages.

On the issues of land, Ssemuli was strongly involved in land disputes, where he advocated and stopped the eviction of residents of Kasozi, Butolo, and Kyedikyo in Madudu Sub-county, Nyondo, Kanyogoga and Kifumbira in Butoloogo Sub-county, Katogo, Makenke, and Kasenyi in Mubende town council by then, Kanyogoga, Kayebe, and Butayunja in Kitenga Sub- County.

He secured more than 700 Land Titles for the tenants in the areas of Mabaale, Kanseera, Kawuula, and Kayunge through an MOU made with the Landlords (MR BIDEMU AND MR SENTAMU). He had his head at the front in the cancellation of 24 illegal land titles obtained from Mubende.

Clever Tonny Ssemuli engaged with the Registrar NTC Mubende to consider the local students who had previously not joined the Diploma Course, to be re-considered in the upfront Academic Years. This totaled 200 local students who benefited.
