MITYANA: Mityana territorial police are holding one suspect for allegedly murdering his wife in a domestic brawl.
The deceased is identified as Nabisinde Margret aged 35 years old a resident of Kyakkosi village, Kagerekamu Parish, Sekanyonyi sub-county Mityana District.
The suspect has been identified as Tumusiime Samuel.
Preliminary findings indicate that on September 16, 2024, at about 0200hrs, Tumusiime beat his wife on an allegation that the deceased had been stealing his money for drinking alcohol unfortunately the wife (deceased) sustained injuries causing her instant death.
It is alleged during the fight the suspect used a stool, iron bar, and a hoe handle to beat the deceased. A report of murder has been opened up at Sekanyonyi police with reference number 11/16/09/2024 and investigations have commenced.
At the scene of the crime, the body of the deceased was found lying in the sitting room of their house at Kyakkosi village and relevant statements have been recorded.
Tumusiime Samuel husband to the deceased has been arrested. Exhibits of a piece of iron bar hoe handle and broken stool have been recovered.
According to Wamala Region Police PRO, SP Kawala Racheal, the body of the deceased has been taken to Mityana Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
She also encouraged victims of domestic violence to speak up and report their cases to relevant authorities like Lcs, police child and family departments amongst others.
