Late General Kasirye Ggwanga Remains to be Relocated Over Land Fights

MITYANA: The Families of the late General Kasirye Ggwanga and Kaggwa Sendawula Semeo” the late” have been involved in a dispute over the land where the late Kasirye Ggwanga’s grave is located.

The children and grandchildren of the late Kaggwa Sendawula Semeo pitched a tent on the land they claim to own and have a title deed to.

They have cut down trees on the property and whitened the edges of the fence where they say they pass. They were also found cooking and storing food to sustain themselves while gathered on the property.

The general administrator of Kaggwa Sendawula Semeo; Salongo Siringi John said they met with the children of the late Kasirye Ggwanga and agreed that Kasirye Ggwanga’s children led by Kasirye Gavin would buy their land especially where their father was buried and went to a memorandum of understanding offering them one million which they refused.

Mpagi Joseph, son of the late Sendawula Semeo, said their father sold the land to the late Ezereya Kaweesa who later passed away but the late Kasirye Gwanga committed fraud and colluded with the late’s wife to increase the property where the late had not bought it

The grandson of Semeo Kaggwa Sendawula said his grandfather bought the land for their parents but after fleeing the 1980 wars, the late Kasirye Gwanga used military force to take back the land where his remains were buried.

The grandson says they did not settle the disputes with Kasirye Gwanga while he was still alive because he was still in power and he used the military.

They wanted Kasirye Ggwanga’s grave to be moved to another place.

Police engaged in the matter, however, Ssalongo John said the police had nothing to do with the incident and they were prepared to face them.

Gavin Kasirye, the son of the late Kasirye Gwanga, said they had no intention of arguing with the people but agreed on the right price for the land but later they decided to raise the price to prevent them.
