MUBENDE: The residents of Gayaaza ward in the South Division of Mubende town are living mysterious lives over stray dogs that are eating their animals, and biting people.
Residents of Kabanda, Kyewanise, KiryaMenvu, Kyejunga, Kayunga, and Njeru are ever on the run due to stray dogs that have surrounded their area which they say has become a trap for them as they have not left any animals and chickens.
The residents say the situation is beyond justice as they can no longer move around because of the dogs.
Leaders in these villages say that this is the first time such cases of stray dogs eating residents’ animals are happening and they also don’t know where they are coming from and still trying to find a solution to the cause.
Mubende veterans chairman and Kayunga village chairman SGT Kamukama Vicent says the govt should mobilize troops from the barracks to conduct a “Tokka Owenja” operation against these dogs that have thrown stones at them.
George William Kalema, a resident of Kyejunga township sadly told Mubende Post how the dogs bit his 13-year-old son who later passed on in hospital.
Kalema further revealed to this publication that he spent a lot of money treating his child but what hurts him most is that the DOGs are still roaming in the neighborhood while the authorities say they have written letters but they have not been helped.
Residents and leaders are speaking the same language for the government to step in and save them from these dogs so they can get some relief.
Lule Harunah, Mubende Municipality Head of Medical and Veterinary said it is true that they receive complaints from residents in the mentioned villages and they will respond to their calls as soon as possible.
He, however, urged dog owners to get their dogs vaccinated to prevent them from spreading Rabies disease.
