Teen found dead in Mubende Community Dam

MUBENDE: A 16-year-old boy fell into a community dam and died in Bwakaggo village in Kalonga sub-county, Mubende district.

The deceased was a fourth-year senior student at Community College School in Kasanda district who was visiting a friend in Kalonga Mubende when he and his friends went to the Dam for swimming.

According to the father of the deceased, Kisembo Godfrey, they are residents of the Bwanswa cell in the Kakumiro district.

It is alleged that the school had a tour but the deceased refused to go with his classmates and asked his father to use the money for the tour and add it to school fees.

Parents are bitter with school authorities for neglecting their children to the extent of escaping from school. They urged the principals to take responsibility for the children they teach as this is the cause of the problem.

According to Bwakago Village Chairman Charles Mukwaya, this is not the first time a person has died in the pond and he asked the government to cover it at least with a fence.

The residents, accompanied by their chairman, complained that their leaders in the area have not helped them to get sewerage water and now the dum has become dangerous.

Kalonga councilor Kakooza Damaseni urged the youths not to just swim in every pond they come about.

Police later arrived at the scene and recovered the body and took it to the morgue of the Mubende Hospital.
