KASAMBYA: Residents of Nabingoola Town Council in Kasambya Constituency Mubende district have defied the use of the Tri-cycle Ambulance known as “Tukutuku” donated to them by Mubende district Woman Member of Parliament Hope Grania Nakazibwe.
It is said that the Tri-cycle has not been used since it was donated to the town council and was parked at Nabingoola Healthy Center III.
According to Davis Lutalo, the Chairperson LC 1 of Nabingoola cell A, revealed that residents need an ambulance but not Tukuktuku. He stated that there are people who need Ambulance services but, unfortunately, the Ambulance has to be sent from Mubende Regional Referral Hospital to pick up the patients from the far parts of Kasambya.
Speaking at a rally organized by Kasambya constituency MP Hon David Kabanda lately, Chairman Lutalo said the residents are reluctant to use the Tri-cycle Ambulance given to them by Mubende District MP Hon Hope Grania Nakazibwe saying they are not comfortable.
“As you see this hospital, Nabingoola Healthy Center III does not have an Ambulance, this one you see here is tyreless and the Noah Ambulance that was donated by the former area MP Hon Mbwatekamwa Gaffa needs repair. People refused to use the Tricycle donated to us by MP Hope Nakazibwe. Honorable, people want an Ambulance that qualifies medical qualities,” Chairperson Davis said.
It will be recalled that MP Hon Grania in an attempt to fulfill her manifesto and to lobby for the community received Tri-cycle Ambulances from the Rotary Club as a member and branded it “Donated by Rotarian Hope Grania Nakazibwe”.
The tri-cycles were distributed at the level of sub-counties, Town councils, and Divisions.
It should be remembered that during her 2021-2026 District woman representative campaign, Hope promised to buy Ambulances for each of the 19 sub-counties that make up Mubende District.
Some of the sub-counties that received Tri-cycle Ambulances include; Madudu subcounty, Butoloogo subcounty, Kiruuma subcounty, Kasambya subcounty, Rubimbiri subcounty, Nabingoola Town council, Kalonga subcounty and Kyenda Town council.
All seemed she had fulfilled her promise. However, since then, Hon Grania has faced criticism from political analysts from Mubende saying this was a bad move, pointing at the bad roads in Mubende district as most of them are made with potholes mostly in rural areas making it difficult for the Tri-cycles to operate in areas where cycles were distributed.
Others fear that when a patient is in an emergency and use a Tricycle, they may not reach safely in the hospital because they are slow in hilly areas saying no one can trust Tri-cycles to transport their patients.
Despite the claims, Honorable Grania’s supporters say this was just add-ons to the main Ambulances she donated to work in the whole district.
