The former Member of Parliament for Mubende municipality who is also vowing to regain the seat in the upcoming 2026 general elections after being defeated in the 2021 general elections says that in just three months he has reached 80% of the municipality.
The veteran politician, a lawyer by professional Honarable Tonny Ssemuli Tibamalirwa speaking to his fans on his Whatsapp group known as “Tukomyawo Tonny” gave them hope that if at all it goes well the 2026 election will just be a walk over, after finding that everyone is welcome him.
Tonny says has been able to mark 80% of the boundaries of the constituency through funerals, church services, speech days at different schools, weddings and 96 other events in three and a half months.
“I have been able to work well with the leaders of various religions and they welcome me very well and the community itself treats me like a child sometimes I forget that I was a MP but because I was able to be among them, Tonny said.
Whereas says this has cost him a lot of money, and adds that during the propaganda he had been able to hold various radio talkshows on different stations educating people about the law and other issues related to everyday life.
Ssemuli said he has found that people love him so much because he is welcomed everywhere he goes which makes him think that the issue is right unlike when he thought the issue was just a joke.
“but in welcoming me I think people feel there is a gap between the existing leadership, because all the ceremonies I have attended there has been no single leader, maybe councilors and other leaders but the stakeholders are not really there” Ssemuli narrates
Adding that he has found that people have accumulated pain and hunger which should be fought for people not to make mistakes when making decisions during election time because they need to be understood more than how they are seen.
He has seen the first phase as well done, saying if it is throwing a stone into the bush to see the grasshoppers in the bush for in terms of support purposes he has seen it very well.
Tibamalirwa Continued to reassure the fans that the situation is now very good on the ground and said that they have achieved 99% of their goals, assuring his constituents that by May 2025 NRM primaries he will be able to win it.
“And the most amazing thing, everywhere I go I am welcomed as an MP even though I am not there” Tonny said.
The NRM hasn’t had clean slate internal elections, usually marred by vendetta, and underhand politics that include open fraud, lack of credible voter register, and dependable election officials which often cascade into rigging, voter bribery, intimidation of rivals, and general violence.
In the run-up to its 2020 primaries to select candidates, NRM abandoned its voter register because it was considered shoddy and announced that adults who were ‘known’ supporters be allowed to vote with minimal scrutiny which caused internal disquiet now what awaits is to see if the same thing can happen again since opposition has also taken control over some parts in mubende municipality.
